About Me-updated 3-19-09
WELCOME!!!
WHY AM I HERE?
I cringe at the rising divorce rate, reports of domestic violence and abuse of children, increase in teen pregnancies and dropout rates, absenteeism in fatherhood, and overall deterioration of marriage and family units.
I’ve learned some things along the way and want to share them… no, I MUST share them. I feel that it is my duty to help people, especially in family units. Since I am no expert, I also benefit from reader comments that provide insight in a nonjudgmental way. This blogging journey is about keeping FAMILY a top priority. I invite you to take it with me daily.
WHO AM I?
I am Davida, a 34-yr-old wife, mother, and work-at-home attorney, doing my best to balance family and career. I have a Bachelors in Sociology (East Carolina University), Masters in Public Administration (North Carolina Central University), and Juris Doctor (Texas Southern University). I am licensed to practice law in Texas. My practice has primarily included family, criminal, and administrative legal work. My personal and professional experiences may influence some of my posts, however, my professional work is not the focus of this blog. I love to write (noticed?) and I have a no-nonsense, tell-it-as-I-see-it attitude. I promise not to mince words with you. Can you handle that?
I am married to Danny, who is 6 years younger than me. He and I met during my last year in law school and his first. He has a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering (University of Houston), Juris Doctor (Texas Southern University), and is licensed to practice law in Texas and as a Patent Attorney with the USPTO office. He currently works at our law school alma mater. He is a thoughtful, selfless man, who is also a loving father and devoted husband. He adds insightful content to the blog often.
We have a B-U-S-Y seventeen-month-old daughter, who we love dearly. She gives us lessons in parenting daily. We are constantly consulting with veteran parents and reading parenting literature in order to make sure we are provided Dasha with the best life and opportunities possible. We want her to be physically healthy, emotionally stable, spiritually grounded, mentally sharp, beautiful, loving, forgiving, strong, compassionate, generous… whew! Parenting is a tough job!
My husband wrote some insightful information about me on my blog one day. Click here to learn more about me.
